Carrefour, under the exclusive operation of Majid Al Futtaim in Uganda, marks its four-year anniversary in the country with a spectacular celebration. From January 31st to February 13th, 2024, shoppers can anticipate winning millions of shillings in prizes and enjoying daily discounts as part of the festivities.
To express gratitude for their continued loyalty, Carrefour will be giving away UGX one million daily to four lucky MyCLUB members for 14 consecutive days, totaling UGX 56 million in rewards. This gesture underscores the brand’s commitment to cherishing its customers’ support over the years.
In addition to the daily rewards, shoppers can indulge in special discounts of up to 50 percent across various categories, including groceries, fresh food, electronics, appliances, and homeware. Engaging competitions will also offer opportunities to win instant prizes, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
One of the highlights of the anniversary celebration is the invitation for shoppers to participate in an engaging social media challenge. Customers can visit any Carrefour store in Uganda, record a 30-second video extending birthday wishes to the retailer, and share it on their Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter accounts using the hashtag #C4anniversary while tagging Carrefour Uganda. The individual whose video garners the highest engagement and views stands a chance to win a cash prize of UGX one million.
Christophe Orcet, the Regional Director for East Africa at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, expressed enthusiasm about the milestone, stating, “We have experienced phenomenal growth during the four years of our operations in Uganda and converted millions of shoppers into loyal and satisfied customers.” Orcet highlighted Carrefour’s commitment to creating great moments for everyone, every day, and emphasized the brand’s dedication to providing unbeatable value and choice to its customers.
Carrefour distinguishes itself as one of the few retailers in Uganda with a dedicated loyalty program, MyCLUB, enabling customers to enjoy instant discounts and earn redeemable loyalty points.
Moreover, Carrefour has played a pivotal role in supporting the local economy by sourcing 99 percent of its products from over 500 local suppliers across Uganda. This commitment has significantly contributed to human capital development by generating hundreds of direct and indirect job opportunities through its operations and supply chain sourcing policy.
In line with its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Carrefour champions the “Round Up Your Bill” campaign, allowing customers to make donations supporting vulnerable groups in neighboring communities. Since its inception in 2021, the initiative has raised over UGX 290 million, funding various projects at Peculiar Childcare Support, Kireka Home for Children, Mulago School for The Deaf, Kiswa Primary School, Ntinda School for the Deaf, and The Noah’s Ark Village.
As Carrefour Uganda commemorates its four-year journey, the celebration reflects its commitment to fostering strong bonds with customers, supporting local communities, and creating memorable shopping experiences that resonate with its core values.
